Josephine Greshko

Josephine A. Greshko, 94, of Newton, passed peacefully, Saturday, 13 September 2025, at the United Methodist Communities at Bristol Glen in Newton, New Jersey.
Josephine was born and raised in Warrior Run, Pennsylvania. She was a 40-year resident of Boonton before relocating to Hampton Township where she lived for more than 25 years until settling in Newton for the last 4 years. Josephine worked as a bookkeeper for Citizens 1st National Bank for many years prior to retiring in 1990. Upon retirement, she began running the farm store at Windy Brow Orchards for 10 years where she lovingly became known in Sussex County as The Apple Lady. Josephine was also a 50-year resident of Yankee Lake and a member of the Yankee Lake Preservation Association.
Josephine was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel R.C. Church, and the Hampton Senior Citizens Group. She enjoyed volunteering with the church and was a philanthropic supporter of the community. Josephine’s support blessed many local organizations including Newton Medical Center Foundation, Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Pope John High School, Father John’s Animal House, SCARC, Inc., and the Deacon Family Foundation.
Josephine was a prolific crafter who used her skills to create many cherished gifts for family and friends over the years. She was talented in the arts of knitting, sewing, crocheting, ceramics, painting and upholstering. Josephine also had a love of travel with family members; she embarked on numerous cruises and enjoyed the beauty of many places all over the World.
Josephine was predeceased by her husband, Edward B. Greshko; her son, Joseph T. Greshko; and her parents, Joseph and Maryann (Szkoda) Grushka. She is survived by her children, Edward Greshko, Annette Langseder and husband, Eric, and Mary Ann Deacon and husband, Philip; her grandson, Eric Greshko; and her great-grandson, Duke Greshko. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
Memorial visitation will be held from 9:30 AM to 11 AM on Tuesday, 23 September 2025, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel R.C. Church, 203 Swartswood Road, Newton, New Jersey, followed by a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM. Interment will be held at a later date in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Boonton, New Jersey.
The family would like to offer special thanks to Josephine’s friends and caregivers at Bristol Glen for the unwavering support and care she received over the past 4 years.
