Septic! Septic! Septic!
One of the most important things a homeowner can do for the preservation of Yankee Lake is to check your septic tank. Septic tank leakage is a health problem and the primary source of unwanted nutrients, which encourage weed and algae growth. Please have your septic pumped often. • Sewage odors. • Wet areas or increased grass growth above the leach field. • Large populations of algae or weeds along your shoreline. • Slow draining sinks, toilets, or showers. • Biodegradable dye flushed through your system is detectable in the lake.
• Limit the amount of water entering your septic system. • Advise family and guests to prevent overuse of your system. • Dishwashers and clothes washing machines add to the water volume in your septic. • Have storm water runoff routed in a direction away from your system. |
