Ice Fishing Contest
The YLPA hosted its first annual Ice Fishing Contest as part of its Winter Carnival. Two-person teams were allowed to drop lines at 8 AM, and the contest ran to 2 PM. 5 tip-ups and 1 jig pole were allowed per entrant. Winners were the longest fish, measured from the tip of the lower jaw to the tip of the lower fork of the tail. There was one winner for the longest Pickerel, one winner for the longest Perch, and one winner for the longest Catfish. (Bass were immediately released, as it is illegal to catch bass at this time of year.) Each of the three winners received 20% of the collected entry fee monies. The remaining 40% went toward the Yankee Lake Fish Stocking Program.
